Bunny, by Mona Awad

⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

Genre : dark academia, satire, and thriller.

The story follows Samantha Mackey, a crynical, socially akward and lonely writing student in the prestigious school of Warren. She is surrounded by privileged girls who seem weirdly attached to each other, acting like one, and call each other "Bunny". Samantha doesn't think much of them, mocks them with her bestfriend Ava, until they invite her to one of their little soirees that changes everything for her, and step by step she finds herself absorbed in their world to a point that reality and imagination become blurry in the deadliest way.

My opinion : I love dark academia books, that take place in elite colleges where power dynamics clearly set the tone to whatever cultish club the main character slowly starts to fade into. This book particularly takes lots of brain work to understand the story, as you have to read between the lines, which is why I love Mona Awad so much, she is really a genius writter. I would advise to read it in one shot (it's 200 pages long, so very much doable) otherwise you will lose the complicated context and what the story is really about. I think the book is meant for one to interpret it as one wishes, I don't think there is one correct answer, that's why Mona is a genius to me.

If you have read it, let me know what you think about it !!

Friday, October 9th

 dear diary,

the past few days were awful. I think I am in my PMS time, so everything feels extra difficult. Mostly I feel like my habits are catching up on me ; waking up super early everyday to pray whilst sleeping late, my sugarfree diet, etc. I started these a month ago and I think I am in the time where it's starting to really settle and weight on my shoulders. I also have this love-hate relationship with taekwondo, and it's eating me. everyaday I want to quit (but I don't, because I am no quitter) so yeah, a hard week. I am glad I am going aborad this weekend. I have a business trip and I decided to take few days off so I can wander around and explore the country. I wasn't supposed to go at first but I like to think that God plans everything perfectly.

Fall is finally settling. It's cold and rainy outside, just what I like ! I have been enjoying wearing fall outfits (only thing keeping me sane lately) and curling my hair. I also started drinking hot chocolate whilst walking around the park to enjoy the leaves' colors. I don't want to miss any of the autmun's colors, it's very important that I look at it and save it in my brain lol.
